Monza and Arsenal reach Pablo Mari agreement

Monza have reached an agreement with Arsenal over the proposed transfer of Pablo Mari, according to multiple sources. The 28-year-old defender will head to Italy to undergo a medical later today (Wednesday), and should it go as planned, he will join Monza on loan for the season, and the Serie A side will have the obligation to make it permanent next summer providing they survive in the Italian top flight.

Arsenal signed Mari from Flamengo originally in January 2020 for around €6 million in a deal which included a loan back to the reigning Brazilian champions (at the time), and that on the back of a Copa Libartadores triumph and narrow defeat to Liverpool in the FIFA Club World Cup final. Guardiola hails rise of ´beloved´ Cancelo after rocky start at Man City

Pep Guardiola admitted it took him a while to work out Joao Cancelo as the Manchester City boss spoke of the sensitive full-back who has become a key component of his side.

Cancelo joined from Juventus in 2019, with the Portugal international initially struggling to establish himself in City s side.

Guardiola said there had been mistakes on his own part, and a lack of understanding from Cancelo about how City were looking for him to perform.

Allegri relieved as Juventus ease past Malmo to end winless run

Massimiliano Allegri admitted there was increased pressure on Juventus in Tuesday s Champions League opener but expressed relief after coasting past Malmo 3-0.

Juve were winless in their first three Serie A games but eased to a sixth straight group-stage away win as they continued their unbeaten run against Swedish opposition in Europe.

Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala were both on the scoresheet as the visitors opened the Champions League with a win by a three-plus goal margin for just the second time, the other against Feyenoord in 1997-98.
